Da Nang, Vietnam

How to get to Da Nang

We recommend flying into the international airports Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) or Hanoi (HAN) and then taking a short connecting flight to Da Nang (DAD). Alternatively, Da Nang may also be reached by plane via Tokyo (HND or NRT), Seoul (ICN), Taipei (TPE), Singapore (SIN) and Hong Kong (HKG). To get around - download the Grab app, which is Vietnam’s equivalent to Uber.

IMPORTANT: US citizens must apply for an e-visa here, which generally takes 3-5 days to process. For other countries, please review this site for more information on visa requirements.

The welcome party will be on the night of Wednesday 3/19, so we recommend getting to Da Nang on Tuesday or Wednesday to settle in.

What to Do

Activities in the Da Nang area

  • Nature

Be ready for a hike day! The Marble Mountains are actually five separate hills each named after a different element: fire, wood, metal, water and earth.

To enjoy an incredible view, you’ll have to sweat your way through a few hundred steps. It’s recommended that you wear a good pair of shoes with grip because the weather has made some of the steps a little more precarious than others.

Once you are there, don’t forget to check out the hidden caves inside the Marble Mountains with the Buddha statues and places of worship.

  • Culture

Hoi An is one of the most beautiful and cultural destinations in all of Vietnam with its lantern-adorned streets – it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Some of the best things to do in Hoi An include wandering around the Ancient Town, exploring the countryside and the paddy fields, getting a suit or a dress tailor-made, and relaxing by the river with a drink or a traditional Vietnamese coffee.

Another great option to combine a visit to Hoi An is the My Son Ruins, dubbed the “Ankor Wat of Vietnam”.

  • Water Adventure

Cham islands, a World Biosphere Reserve recognized by UNESCO. These eight islands were originally settled by the Cham people, many of whom still live there today.

After exploring the local culture, you can explore the beautiful coral reefs and the colorful schools of fish that call them home with nothing more than a snorkel and some fins. The islands are about an hour away from Da Nang by boat.

After a speedboat ride from Da Nang, you’ll get to snorkel in the best snorkeling spots of the area, and you can also enjoy a sea walking experience.
